I dont know the origin of the word Corruption or bribe. I dont know who was the first person who bribed and who is the first person who accepted it. But I for sure know, we all bribed to get our work done smoothly at some point in our life. Why that, we also have bribed gods as a bargain to fulfill our wishes. Though we knew that it was wrong, we did it just to avoid the big mess ahead. Even if one says he/she has not bribed, it would not be wrong to say that particular individual is either atheist or some Martian, i.e out of this earth.
Every now and then we hear of solutions for ending corruption. Catchy phrases like "Not only is bribe taking a crime, but the bigger crime is giving it." But the human tendency to run ahead of others and getting the required at a faster pace, drives him/her to do what it takes, even if it means going against the heart(going by filmy dialogues) or brain in many cases.
Not being unfair to the people who take bribe, even if I was in their shoes, even I would have wanted more money to enjoy the benefits of life. Its human tendency, we require more, we are greedy, we are not holy creatures that only feed on what is given, we are animals but only tamed. But like most of us, even I like taking but giving. So we cannot just avoid bribe in smaller sense and corruption as a larger picture, just with conciseness but by making the bribe taking or giving impossible.
Like everyone else, even I have my reasons for ending this mess and even I would like to propose a solution.
The following reasons encouraged me to think of a solution to end up the mess we are getting into:
Being a technical person, was thinking of a technical solution to end up all this and finally thought of a solution that seems practical and worth a try. Thanks to efforts of Nandan Nilekani, all Indians will be now numbered through Unique Aadhar number. Thanks also to the technology that we have banking that is computerized, we have debit/credit cards to keep track of the money we spend or earn and we have the swiping machines at every shopping malls to help us carry zero money.
My solution to corruption is a amalgamation of all this. Why not scrap the paper money all together and replace it with something like a debit card? Why not introduce a debit card where one's finger print should be the pin? Well in practical sense if I wish to implement this, I would require the following:

Like everyone else, even I have my reasons for ending this mess and even I would like to propose a solution.
The following reasons encouraged me to think of a solution to end up the mess we are getting into:
On the national level,
a. Country witnessing the biggest money blunder in form of 2G scam
b. In my growing years, Abdul Karim Telgi was the biggest name involved in the stamp scam.
c. Recently coalgate
d. Fodder scam and many such listed in the link below:
On the personal level,
a. Bribe to police to pass through when I broke signals or for not wearing helmet or missing some required documents. Though I am guilty and escaped the big mess, I dont wish it to be repeated.
b. Hearing about down payment when purchasing a house for which the builder is not accountable
c. Paying 100+ bill to my doctor everytime I visit him and for which I dont even get the receipt and doctor enjoys the benefit of not being accountable for it
d. High education fees in the name of development which I hardly see or enjoyed.
e. And many more

Why not introduce a debit card where one's finger print should be the pin? Well in practical sense if I wish to implement this, I would require the following:
a. Make compulsion for every individual to have a banking account which should be linked to the Aadhar card he/she is assigned to
b. Make compulsion for every organization to have a banking account which should be linked to the registration no of the company and finger print of the authorized person as the pin.
c. All liquid money a person/organization holds should be part of the bank account
d. Every movable and non movable asset should be declared and a receipt for the same obtained.
d. Every movable and non movable asset should be declared and a receipt for the same obtained.
e. Every seller irrespective of smaller or bigger should have a swipe machine and finger print scanner
f. Every buyer irrespective of smaller or bigger should have a debit card where his/her finger print acts as his password.
g. Every time a person in India wants to buy a product, he/she should use his/her debit card and finger print to complete the transaction. This transaction should be recorded as part of bank statement both at the buyer and seller account i.e - and + in respective accounts.
h. Every time a organization in India wants to buy a product, the authorized head of the institute should use the designated debit card and finger print to complete the transaction. This transaction should be recorded as part of bank statement both at the buyer and seller account i.e - and + in respective accounts.
i. Every time a person/organization wants to trade internationally, they should do so using the money transfer feature. The transaction should be recorded as + when selling the products and - when buying the products.
j. Every penny of paper money should be converted to electronic money and recorded in respective bank accounts.
k. Fixing charges for every service provided with consideration of changes based on aspects like inflation, quality and other related reasons.
l. Provide all the banking facilities both online and otherwise.
j. Finally by holding every individual/head of the organization responsible for every transaction, in case if required.
j. Finally by holding every individual/head of the organization responsible for every transaction, in case if required.
Now lets consider positive aspects of this solution as a commoner that I visualize:
a. End to paper money. This will reduce the killing of trees.
b. No more can government and private babus stop me from getting what is mine with a reason that they did not get their dues.
b. No more can government and private babus stop me from getting what is mine with a reason that they did not get their dues.
c. No more bargaining or errant auto drivers.
d. No more police asking you for kharcha pani.
e. Kids will be accountable for every money they spend. This could in a bigger sense avoid cases like drug abuse and many such.
f. No more words like "No change, change nahi hai, chillare illa, change dya bhau, etc"
g. No more black money stashed abroad.
h. No more politicians buying stupid people into giving their valuable vote and seat a good for nothing on the post to kill them and others slowly
h. Government cannot cheat commoner as the person at the highest post will be accountable for any misdeeds he/she or his/her subordinates do. So in the sense you are forcing him/her to look into each and every aspect of the government and make him/her act truly as a representative elected by the people.
i. In long run, this will help reduce greed, help build patience, help build brotherhood, help build mutual respect.

Now lets consider the bottlenecks of such solution:
a. Huge infrastructure cost. But considering the amount that is getting blackened and getting unaccountable, this should be a one time effort with issues like maintenance and huge man force required to maintain such huge infrastructure and handle risks involved with losing valuable information.
b. Time required to change the old system of paper money
c. System upgradation by every vendor/seller.
Steps are many to climb this ladder but summit once reached, we can rest the evil of corruption and ill effects of money. Give a thought and please let me know your comments. I could be wrong in saying all of it and its valuable for me to know your comments.
